How did Season 2 of 'The Bear' end?

After tirelessly bringing the high-end titular restaurant to life all season, The Bear finally hosts its grand opening in the Season 2 finale. The launch should be a piece of cake, but problems start piling up, and head chef Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) cracks under pressure.

Not only do they run out of forks, but Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Marcus (Lionel Boyce) are unexpectedly roped in when a line cook disappears. To top it off, disaster strikes when the handle on the walk-in refrigerator breaks, leaving Carmy trapped inside.

Initially tasked with running the front of the house, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) finds himself in the trenches. When Sydney (originally slated to run the kitchen) jumps in to lend a hand with cooking, Richie takes over expediting and surprisingly thrives in the role.

Locked inside the walk-in fridge, Carmy descends into self-doubt and vents about how his relationship with Claire (Molly Gordon) has destroyed his focus. Unluckily for him, Claire is in the restaurant and overhears his tirade when she steps into the kitchen, leaving in tears.

Richie witnesses her exit and confronts Carmy through the refrigerator door, triggering a heated exchange filled with cutting remarks that hit below the belt.

Carmy's world ultimately shatters when he finally listens to a missed voicemail from Claire earlier that day, where she confesses her love for him.

Meanwhile, Pete (Chris Witaske), Natalie's (Abby Elliott) husband, spots Donna (Jamie Lee Curtis) outside the restaurant. He approaches her, and Donna tells him that she can't go in because she feels unworthy of witnessing her children's success. Donna begs Pete not to say anything about her visit, but before they go they part ways, Pete accidentally reveals Natalie's pregnancy to Donna.

Ultimately the service concludes as a hit, Marcus receives a gift from Luca (Will Poulter), even though he missed several urgent calls from his mother's nurse. As for Sydney, she feels both overwhelmed and empowered by the triumphant opening night.

The Bear is now streaming on Hulu.
